Job description

  • The role involves providing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) support to projects, maintaining a visible presence at workshops and sites, and coordinating with project managers. The individual is expected to assist in coaching, mentoring, and implementing HSE programs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Key duties include the development and regular review of a Safety Management Plan (SMP) for the site, conducting audits for compliance, and organizing safety staff and first aid coverage. The role requires providing direction and resources to project managers, supervisors, team leaders, and safety officers. Incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up actions are crucial aspects of the position, along with ensuring injured workers are offered modified duties.
  • The individual is responsible for keeping safety team training up-to-date, reviewing safety obligations of client projects, and ensuring new employee induction aligns with company requirements. Maintenance of safety boards with relevant postings, including Health and Safety policy, inspection results, and project hazard assessments, is emphasized. Additionally, the candidate is expected to make sure essential materials such as 3C Metal Belmet’s HSE Manual, safety forms, and relevant documents are available on-site.
  • Participation in audits such as ISO 45001 and ISO 9001, effective communication, coaching, and assistance to staff for meeting safety expectations are key components of the role. Regular coordination meetings with the safety team to review issues, trends, and upcoming projects are required. The position also involves compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, legal, and regulatory requirements outlined by the company.
  • In addition to safety responsibilities, the role includes management of rigging store control, safety committee attendance, safety walkabouts, safety incentive schemes, and oversight of routine and non-routine lifts. Facility and equipment management is also part of the duties.
  • Overall, the position requires a comprehensive approach to safety management, regulatory compliance, and effective communication and coordination with various stakeholders to ensure a safe work environment for employees, contractors, visitors, and the community.

Profile
Education

  • Matric, preferably with tertiary education
  • SAMTRAC, NEBOSH.
  • SACPCMP Registered

Experience

  • Oil & Gas, Engineering, Marine, General Heavy Industry.
  • OHSAct, ISO 45001, lifting, rigging, welding, cutting, general workshop activities.

Skills

  • Incident Investigation skills, leadership and conflict resolution skills, high level of accuracy, interpersonal skills, analytical skills, decision-making skills, good communication skills, admin and computer skills.

Competencies

  • SACPCMP Registered,
