Your responsibilities

  • Conduct job hazard analysis, perform and facilitate risk assessments that involve Production Line Supervisors and shop floor employees directly. Perform safety audits, inspections, evaluations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support, implement and monitor occupational health, industrial hygiene and workforce safety procedures, processes, programs in alignment with ABB’s policies, instructions, and standards.
  • Drive behavioral change through implementing ABB’s Global performance improvement programs and practices within our facilities to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on environment throughout the organization.
  • Provide outreach to employees by continuously promoting safety awareness and a positive safety mindset by walking the floor and being highly visible within our ABB Facilities in South Africa.
  • Coordinate, support and deliver training programs related to safety, ergonomics, accident prevention and new employee safety orientation sessions.
  • Responsible for preparing and submitting HSE incident reports, the maintenance of accurate record-keeping, KPI progress metrics reporting and ensuring correction actions are effectively implemented.

Your background

  • National Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Safety or Environmental Management- SACPCMP- CHSO/CHSM.
  • Minimum 3 years of HSE experience and vitally important.
  • A good working knowledge and application of current Local, Government and Industry Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations.
  • Experience investigating EHS incidents and assessing risk. Involve with OSHA and experience implementing ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 is preferred.
  • Experience with Intelex HSE software is a plus.
  • Ability to develop materials, facilitate presentations and deliver effective Safety Training.
  • Must be able to advise and guide managers and supervisors on accident-prevention and loss-control enhancements and provide interpretation of related policies and procedures.
  • Professional Certification from a nationally recognized organization desired (e.g SAIOSH).
  • HSE Training such as- HIRA, First Aid, Construction regulations. Etc.
  • Fluency in both spoken and written English language is a must.
