The opportunity
- This is a unique opportunity to serve as Media24’s primary legal advisor while building strategic stakeholder relationships and contributing to board-level decision making. You’ll be working at the intersection of law, media, technology, and business strategy.
What you’ll be doing
Legal counsel
- Provide strategic legal counsel on media law, intellectual property, and digital content matters
- Ensure compliance across all our diverse media operations
- Manage litigation and coordinate external legal services
- Navigate complex regulatory requirements in the evolving media landscape
Stakeholder management
- Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, government agencies, and community organizations
- Represent Media24 at industry forums and regulatory discussions
- Influence policy development that affects the media sector
Board advisory and reporting
- Prepare comprehensive management reports for board meetings
- Coordinate annual report preparation and business plan development
- Present legal and regulatory updates to executive leadership
- Support governance and compliance reporting functions
What we’re looking for
Essential:
- Admitted attorney with LLB from a recognised South African university
- 5+ years legal practice with 3+ years corporate advisory experience
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience in board reporting or executive communication
Preferred:
- LLM with specialization in media law, IP, or corporate law
- Media, publishing, or digital industry experience
- Experience with regulatory bodies
