Industrial Engineer needed at Booyco Electronics

Main Purpose of the Job

Education, experience and competencies

• Diploma/Degree in Engineering
• 3 years in similar role
• Valid Driver’s licence
• Staff management experience
• Advanced knowledge of product development
• Knowledge of electronic components, pc boards etc.
• Knowledge of process improvement techniques
• Computer literate – Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Advantage – Syspro (inventory, BOM and production modules)

Responsibilities

• Maintain relationship with internal (materials management, production management, repairs, field services, sales and finance) and external (sub-contractors, suppliers, developers and service providers) business partners fulfilling business objectives through professional conduct, regular follow-up and on time service delivery.
• Product review:
• Collaborate with quality to identify and address quality issues during manufacturing, distribution, installation and maintenance of products
• Ensure that complete and accurate working instructions are available for all products manufactured by the company
• Collaborate with inventory accounting to ensure that the BOM and continuous time and motion studies are current and relevant
• Develop jigs and fixture to improve detection of quality issues before releasing finished goods into the market
• Business process review:
• Maintain policies, procedures and work instructions relating to all engineering functions
• Collaborate with material management to identify and address improvements in material handling processes
• Collaborate with production to identify and address improvements in manufacturing processes and material handling of sensitive inventory items
• Review production layout designs to ensure production optimisation
• Implementation and train staff on one piece manufacturing and lean manufacturing
• Value stream mapping (manufacturing and logistics)
• Perform any reasonable ad hoc tasks and duties required by management

Business processes activities:

• Attend all meetings relative to your role.
• Complete all reports and carry out all measurements as prescribed in your related procedures and work instructions.
• Supervise the roles of stores assistants and drivers.
• Expenditure according to the financial limit of authority policy.
• Decision making is limited to the task and execution of the tasks.
• Ensure and maintain efficiency in manufacturing processes
• Ensure all relevant information are ready, available and up to date for manufacturing.
• Introduce Lean 7 wastes in production and stores
• Implement one piece manufacturing and lean manufacturing
