Information Architect (Northern Suburbs (Cape)) needed at PEP

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION 

• We seek a skilled Information Architect to bridge the gap between business data requirements and technical implementation. This role will be responsible for designing, structuring, and optimizing data models that enable efficient storage, retrieval, and use of data across the organization. You will collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to ensure data is well-organized, accessible, and aligned with business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Data Modeling:

• Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business and analytics needs.
• Define data objects, attributes, relationships, and hierarchies for structured and unstructured data.
• Develop dimensional models for data warehouses, ensuring efficient querying and reporting.
• Establish data governance standards, ensuring data integrity, normalization, and consistency.
• Work closely with data engineers to translate models into physical databases.

Information Architecture:

• Organize and structure data assets to ensure easy access, discoverability, and usability.
• Design metadata, taxonomies, and categorization frameworks for business users and analysts.
• Improve data flow and accessibility by defining data management best practices.
• Collaborate with UX designers and business teams to optimize information presentation.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards (Popia, etc.).

Requirements

JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS: 

• 5+ years of experience in data modeling, information architecture, or a related field.
• Expertise in SQL, NoSQL, and data modeling tools .
• Experience with cloud-based data architectures.
• Knowledge of machine learning pipelines and AI-driven data structuring.
• Understanding of data visualization best practices for self-service analytics.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, dimensional modeling, and data warehousing.
• Experience working with data lakes, ETL processes, and big data platforms (e.g., GCP).
• Knowledge of metadata management, taxonomies, and business glossaries.
• Ability to translate business requirements into scalable data architectures.
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices.
