Instrumentation Technician needed at Pollock & Associates

• KZN South Coast. An opportunity exists for a skilled Instrumentation Technician to join the Automation Department and support the reliable performance of a high-demand manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Automation Engineer, this role safeguards plant availability through precise maintenance, rapid fault identification, and disciplined adherence to instrumentation standards.
• You will work across advanced automation systems, supporting PLCs, HMIs, SCADA platforms, analysers, drives, weighing systems, and communication networks.
• Success requires strong technical acumen, the ability to interpret and update engineering drawings, and the discipline to maintain software integrity, calibration accuracy, and SAP-driven maintenance processes.
• The role further demands a safety-first mindset, structured documentation practices, and the capacity to guide assistants and learners.

Requirements

• Matric plus a recognised Instrumentation Technical Qualification
• S4/N6 with ±3 years’ experience in heavy industry or process environments
• PLC/HMI programming & fault-finding on PCS7, ABB 800xA and Siemens (S7-300/1200/1500)
• SCADA (WinCC), gas/emissions analyser maintenance, weighing systems, and VSD commissioning (SEW, WEG, Siemens, ABB)
• Strong understanding of ASI, Profibus, Ethernet and industrial communication networks
• SAP experience is advantageous
