Intern – Systems Engineer (Pietermaritzburg) needed at Gijima

Job Description

Gijima is recruiting 1 x Systems Engineer Intern in Pietermaritzburg.  The intern will assist in providing Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory and VMWare support. Knowledge on Access Control and clocking will be an advantage.  CANDIDATE MUST LIVE IN PIETERMARITZBURG.

The criteria is as follows:-

• Candidates must have completed a 3 year Degree, Diploma or National Diploma in Information Technology (NQF Level 6)
• ITIL v3 Foundation Certification and relevant Microsoft Certifications will be an added advantage
• Clear credit (ITC) and no criminal record;
• Candidates must currently be unemployed;
• Candidates must not be participating on another learnership or internship program;
• Candidates must have effective communication in written and verbal English;
• Candidates must live in the Pietermaritzburg area – relocation is not an option
• Candidates must be under the age of 35 as at 1 July 2024;
• Candidates must be a South African Citizen – African, Coloured, Indian;

COMPETENCIES:

• Knowledge of Wintel theory
• Knowledge of Wintel administration
• Knowledge of Wintel tuning
• Knowledge of Performance Monitoring
• Network communications (Basic)
• Knowledge of TCP/IP
• Possesses an understanding of good server and midrange design
• Knowledge in VMware will be an added advantage
• Knowledge in Access Control will be an added advantage
• Knowledge in SQL Server will be an added advantage
• Knowledge in Citrix will be an added advantage
