Key Accountabilities:
- Make sure studio lighting is on and house light is off.
- Make sure all cameras are set to factory default and the colour pots set to neutral.
- Ensure white balance is done on a white surface.
- Do manual tweek according to vector scope.
- Make sure operation control panel (OCP) is working properly i.e. range of iris control and exposure time (shutter speed).
- Help the camera operator to check the focus and back focus of the camera.
- Undertake spot checks of vision and sound.
- Ensure product quality and alignment with production specifications.
- Ensure recorded sound and visuals are correct post production before handing over to clients
- Select the ports on SQ play and take control of the ports.
- Check play out A, B, C whether they can cue and roll.
- Check audio and video output.
- Check all clips and line up are loaded on the system.
- Ensure playout system is fully operational.
- Continually communicate with the production team, lightning, director, make up and wardrobe.
- Continuously monitor the quality of visuals and equipment.
- Provide advice and consult in pre production planning.
- Select the ports on SQ record and take control of the ports.
- Check SQ recorder are functional and ready to record.
- Ensure time lines are set (length of recordings).
- Name your slug for easy retrieval.
- VCR play back recording are functional and ready to record.
- Test VCR playout with sounds and video output.
- Select correct input on the router panel for recording.
- Report all faults to technicians prior or during production recording time.
- On-going communication with the production team, lighting, director, make up and wardrobe
- Ensure wardrobe and make up is according to television standards (colour of clothing)
- Select knee function on auto to minimise white levels
- Ensure wardrobe colour is suitable for Chroma key
- Offer advice on additional set dressing, in order to enhance the visual quality of productions
- Ensure the right level of lighting
Requirements:
- National Diploma or Degree (NQF6/7) in video technology or relevant equivalent qualification.
- Excellent eyesight
- Ability to work under pressure and for long irregular hours including weekends and public holidays.
