  • CA(SA) / audit experience (highly preferred)

Essential knowledge

  • Write technical and non-technical communication, including developing appropriate reports for stakeholders relating to clients & deals.
  • Analyse and improve policies and procedures in accordance with best practice.
  • Analyse, interpret and understand financial statements and complex financial models with an understanding of accounting practices, legal, tax, industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Collect and analyse appropriate data to recognise key themes and trends and take appropriate action on existing or new deals in the portfolio.
  • Prepare and be primarily responsible for credit applications with input from originators.

Key duties for the Investment Credit Analyst

  • Investment Analysis & Country Risk Analysis
  • Credit Approvals
  • Conduct critical upfront and ongoing analysis of client businesses to ensure all investment risks are thoroughly understood, monitored, and managed throughout the loan lifecycle.
  • Utilise rating models to assess clients, analyse financial statements, interpret complex financial models, and validate assumptions before presenting recommendations to the Investment Committee.
  • Undertake client visits during onboarding processes and perform independent credit analysesfor each new transaction to ensure robust due diligence.
  • Evaluate collateral structures and other credit risk mitigations while continuously monitoring their effectiveness over time.
  • Presentdetailed findings and recommendations to the Investment Committee, supporting informed decision-making on new deals and existing exposures.
  • Manage all credit-related matters for a portfolio of clients from pre-approval through disbursement to post-trade monitoring, maintaining acceptable non-performing loan ratios.
  • Perform annual reviews and quarterly high-level risk assessments on client portfolios, challenging credit applications as needed and conducting stress tests on collateral positions.
  • Monitor country-specific developments—including economic trends, political changes, and regulatory shifts—and report aggregate credit exposures at both client and country levels.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit papers for deal origination through post-close monitoring, ensuring legal structuring aligns with approved conditions and industry best practices.
  • Support ad-hoc tasks such as minute-taking at committee meetings, responding to portfolio queries, and preparing stakeholder reports.
  • Ensure deals are legally structured in accordance with credit conditions and approvals.
