Job Purpose:

  • The Junior Agricultural Credit Advisor will play a key role in supporting the management of agricultural credit portfolios, assisting clients with finance applications, and providing strategic solutions to enhance financial growth and sustainability within the agricultural industry.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education (essential):

  • B Degree in Agricultural Economics

OR

  • Degree in Strategic Management, or a related field.

Minimum applicable experience (years):

  • 1 – 3 Years in an agricultural or financial role (internships or related experience in the agricultural finance sector will be advantageous)

Required nature of experience:

  • Understanding of agricultural financing principles
  • Exposure to credit assessments and risk management in an agricultural setting
  • Experience in customer service or relationship management

Skills and Knowledge (essential):

  • Knowledge of agricultural markets and financial structures
  • Strong analytical skills for credit assessments
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Other:

  • Fluent in Afrikaans
  • Own transport and a valid driver’s license

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS, WEIGHTS AND OBJECTIVES

Client Relationship Management 

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with agricultural clients by understanding their financial needs and providing tailored credit solutions.
  • Actively engage with clients to ensure satisfaction, assisting them with credit applications and guiding them through the process.
  • Foster long-term partnerships through regular follow-ups and proactive communication, contributing to business retention and growth.

Credit Assessment and Risk Evaluation 

  • Evaluate clients’ creditworthiness by reviewing financial statements, reports, and business plans to assess risk and recommend appropriate credit solutions.
  • Assist in preparing credit proposals and reports that align with company policies and agricultural financial requirements.
  • Support the senior team in conducting detailed risk assessments for new credit applications and portfolio management.

Portfolio Administration and Monitoring

Assist in managing and maintaining client portfolios, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and up-to-date.

  • Monitor the performance of agricultural loans and assist in identifying any risks or issues that need addressing.
  • Help track the status of loans and credit facilities, ensuring timely renewals and adherence to contractual terms.

Administrative Support and Reporting 

  • Provide assistance in preparing regular reports on the status of the agricultural credit portfolio, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely submission of all necessary documentation for credit applications, renewals, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless processing and implementation of credit policies and procedures.

Market Analysis and Strategy Support 

  • Conduct research on market trends, agricultural industry challenges, and new opportunities to support the development of credit strategies.
  • Assist the team in identifying growth areas within the agricultural sector and recommending potential clients or financial products.
  • Stay informed about changes in agricultural financing regulations, adapting practices as needed.
