- We are looking for a passionate and creative Junior Textile Designer to join our design team. This role is ideal for someone who is excited about bringing fresh ideas to life through patterns, prints, and textiles tailored for our diverse and trend-driven customer base. You’ll assist in developing original textile designs that align with seasonal trends and support the broader business strategy.
What you will love doing in this role:
Drive Creativity and Innovation
- Stay up to date with design trends, interpreting them into commercially viable textile designs tailored for the homechoice customer.
- Proactively seek inspiration through site visits, retail research, and trend reports to spark fresh ideas and ensure relevance in product development.
- Consistently deliver on design briefs, exceeding expectations with innovative, trend-led concepts that align with our brand identity.
Deliver on Agreed Timelines
- Develop and deliver high-quality textile designs in line with agreed timelines and seasonal calendars.
- Accurately interpret design briefs and adapt designs to meet the buyer’s vision, requirements, and customer insights.
Build and Maintain Relationships
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with buyers, fellow designers, and cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive product development.
- Act as a passionate brand ambassador, inspiring others with your enthusiasm for design and the homechoice product range.
Requirements
What you’ll need to do this role:
- Diploma in Textile Design or equivalent qualification.
- 2–3 years’ experience in textile design, preferably within the bedding or homeware industry.
- Proven creative flair and artistic ability, with the skill to build a cohesive design story from a single image or concept.
- Strong eye for colour, texture, fabric, and pattern development.
- Excellent understanding of current and emerging design trends, materials, and production techniques.
- Hands-on experience with textile processes and techniques, particularly those relevant to home textiles.
- Proficient in Adobe Photoshop (Illustrator experience is advantageous, but not essential).
- Specialisation in floral design will be a distinct advantage.
- Solid understanding of the screen-printing process, including the ability to adapt watercolor designs by reducing colors for production.
- Experience in continuous printing, with the ability to put designs into specified repeat sizes.
