Job Description
THE JOB AT A GLANCE:
- You are responsible to report the financial performance of a selected business unit. You need to make sure that the integrity, accuracy and completeness of financial records are maintained, in accordance with IFRS. You will be providing oversight of the activities and performance of the accountants in your team.
Responsibilities
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Financial Management
- Produce accurate and complete total GL with all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual relevant reporting, including reconciliations, management pack, business review pack, tax pack and audit pack in accordance with IFRS and Group accounting policies.
- Answers to queries, information, explanations and help as required.
- Motivated, well-trained and informed staff that deliver output and services according to specifications.
- Review monthly input from the site cost accountants and SSC accountants to be included into the monthly reporting pack.
- Compile annual budget, quarterly forecast and weekly profit estimates by giving sensible deliberation to the required assumptions to be made.
- Implement and maintain proper financial systems and controls .
- Ensure accurate and complete general ledger accounts.
- Authorize journals and approve reconciliations done by financial accountants.
- Ensure accurate, complete and up to date fixed asset register.
- Completed and accepted annual insurance renewal submissions.
- Review and approve electronic payments to suppliers
- Attend stock take and report as per standard operating procedure
Governance and Compliance
- Keep up to date with the relevant legislation and best practice with a view ensuring that all relevant Tiger Brands’ policies are up-to-date and templates are compliant
- Govern the organisational design framework and adherence to processes, policies and guidelines
- Manage staff establishment and head count reporting across the group
- Ensure remedial actions are implemented timeously to address non-conformances.
Risk Management
- Complete and submit the departmental risk register as well as quarterly updates on risk mitigations
- Drive the ongoing monitoring, escalation and reporting on risk management issues. Flag all risks and assist in finding solutions
People Management
- Support in managing the departmental workforce planning to ensure function is suitably staffed to meet strategic functional objectives.
- Implement people development processes such as talent management, performance management (on requisite time lines) and succession planning to meet functional performance standards.
- Champion knowledge and learning development within the team.
Reporting
- Provision of accurate and timely reports to the lead in accordance with statutory requirements. Use and apply appropriate approved reporting templates.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- CIMA, CA or B.Comm Hons. Accounting degree
- Analytical Skills
- Financial Management/Cost Accounting Experience in FMCG
- 5-7 years relevant experience
