Main Objectives

• All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level.

The requirements

• A Masters in Journalism, Media Studies or Communication or a related field is required.
• Professional experience in the practice of design is required.
• Some teaching experience is an advantage, either within an academic environment or media practice. Practical and informal facilitation of learning within a media production context is understood to be of relevance.
• Ability to teach and research in some or all of the following areas: Design Studies, Graphic Design, Design Methodologies, Digital Media Studies, Visual Language and Literacy, Visual Communication, Design practice
• Research supervision experience at Honours and Masters level will be an advantage.
• Track record of administration, management and/or leadership roles are an advantage  (leadership roles may be informal).
