Lecturer_ Dept of Social work & Social Development needed at University of Cape Town

REQUIREMENTS:

• Registered as a Social Worker with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SASSCP)
• A PhD qualification or PHD currently under examination in Social Work, Social Development or cognate fields
• At least two years’ experience working within a higher education institution:
• Experience in teaching and supervision of social work students
• Experience in the supervision of postgraduate students
• Ability to convene undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses

THE FOLLOWING WOULD BE ADVANTAGEOUS:

• Experience in teaching quantitative and qualitative research methods
• Knowledge of curriculum design
• Publications in peer reviewed journals
• Proficiency in using learning management systems
• Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in Microsoft tools  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Research supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Convening undergraduate and postgraduate courses
• Convening undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, where required
• Contributing to department administration
• Developing a research and publications portfolio
• Participating in all departmental Research Ethics and MA/PhD Research Committees
• Contribution to social responsiveness
