Minimum Qualification

  • At least BSc Honours in Science, Engineering, Applied Radiation Science and Technology or Nuclear Physics/Engineering.

Minimum years relevant experience

  • 10 years in safety analysis and regulatory and/or licensing/ compliance assurance and enforcement experience within the nuclear industry.
  • At least 6 years Managerial Experience.

Key Areas of Responsibility

The appointed candidate will perform the following job activities:

  • Provide support on the development, maintenance, and compliance assessment of the nuclear installation license as required by the regulator.
  • Provide licensing guidance, support and services to facilities within NRWDI considering all applicable regulatory criteria and practices, permit and licensing conditions, international guidelines and internal requirements.
  • Maintain licenses and permits.
  • Prepare license applications by interpreting the safety information (technical input) into comprehensive licensing documents that satisfy all applicable regulatory and technical requirements.
  • Submit licensing documents in a timely manner and in accordance with NRWDI procedures and processes.
  • Lead teams to address significant licensing issues with the objective of maintaining or obtaining licenses in the most efficient manner.
  • Review regulatory topics to provide input to licensing documents to ensure they are complete and comprehensive in order to ensure that submissions to the regulator.
  • Facilitate inspections / internal audits, resolve regulatory issues and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support for reporting, investigation and close-out of nuclear occurrences.   
  • Compile project Safety Cases that will consist of all the supporting documents in accordance with the project-specific nuclear installation license requirements.
  • Obtain the NNR authorization to proceed with constructing new installations or modification to existing installations.
  • Submit Public Information documents to the NNR to support public hearing processes for new installations and participate in public hearings, if required.
  • Prepare and respond to regulator requests for additional information.
