Machine Operator: Sports and Recreation needed at City of Johannesburg

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 10/NQF level 2 is required;
• 6 – 1 2 months as machine operator;
• Operate and conduct machine maintenance and monitor machine repairs of grass-cutting and line-marking machines.

Primary Function:

• To develop, establish and maintain and efficient and integrated maintenance of Sport and Recreation sports fields, stadia, and recreation facilities.

Key Performance Areas:

• Operate and maintain grass-cutting equipment as per the owners manual.
• Ensure the safety of community members and colleagues by complying with the
• Operational Health and Safety Act and preventing injuries/accidents and damages.
• Perform specific tasks and activities associated with the provision of grass cutting and field line marking.
• Perform specific tasks and activities associated with loading and working with tools by physically lifting and moving equipment.

Leading Competencies:

• To be able to read and comprehend instructions.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions is required.
• Must have knowledge of how to operate grass cutting machines.

Core Competencies:

• Pay attention to detail.
• Be able to work under pressure.
• Fit and healthy to operate, move and lift equipment.
• Be able to implement grass cutting and line marking schedules.
