Job purpose:
- to administer and manage the planned maintenance function on all Mining Equipment of the organization effectively and efficiently, within the required budget and scheduled intervals.
Key performance areas:
Planning Duties:
- Compile, develop and implement maintenance schedules for each machine type.
- Obtain and facilitate information from role players in order to compile maintenance budget.
- Plan and control maintenance schedule according to budget.
- Submit maintenance budget for approval to Engineering manager.
- Provide weekly maintenance schedules to the Engineering Superintendents to enable execution of maintenance activities.
- Follow up and monitor progress on execution of scheduled maintenance (planned vs actual).
- Reschedule and update all uncompleted and new maintenance tasks and align with budgetary requirements.
- Monitor the trends of all oil analysis done.
- Monitor and record the life expectancy, of all major components to timely order such components to guarantee availability of equipment.
- Maintain effective planned maintenance system to ensure data integrity of all maintenance schedules.
- Generate maintenance schedule forecasts and reports, as required.
- Facilitate and coordinate planned maintenance schedules with reference to components availability and sub-contractors maintenance activities.
- Analyse maintenance schedule data to identify areas of concern, opportunities, and excellence.
- Perform any other ad hoc request that management delegate to this position.
- Ongoing progress reporting of status of maintenance schedules.
Communication:
- Coordinate effective schedules with OEM’s.
- Report on progress achieved versus planned maintenance schedules.
- Provide information to maintenance and production teams as required.
- Provide weekly and monthly feedback to the management regarding planned maintenance.
- Proactively alert management on cost deviations.
Administrative duties:
- Ensure that parts are available to perform maintenance schedules.
- Monitor maintenance and procurement activities related to maintenance schedules.
- Review and report potential deviations that may affect the execution of the schedule.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are recorded, and records are kept.
Minimum Job requirements:
- National Diploma Mechanical Engineering, or
- Qualified artisan (Trade Certificate), plus:
- 3-5 Years’ experience on planned maintenance systems in supervisory capacity.
- Maintenance planning and scheduling certificate advantageous.
- Valid code EB Drivers license
- Clean Criminal record
Knowledge, Attitude, Skills & Abilities:
- Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control Training (HIRAC)
- Comprehensive knowledge of planned maintenance systems. (Experience with Pragma system will be highly advantageous)
- Excellent knowledge of Earthmoving Equipment.
- High level of computer literacy (MS Word).
- Presentation skills.
- Planning and organizing skills.
- Sound decision making abilities.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management skills.
- Must be assertive and able to function under pressure.
