Key Performance Outputs                                        

The successful candidate, reporting to the Senior Manager Quality Control and Assurance and will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure the implementation and review of Aviation safety & Airport operational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement a Safety Management System for the Airport. Conduct research on best practices and identifying improvement on Safety requirements and best practices.
  • Implementing annual safety campaigns based on safety trends and improvements required.
  • Advising and reporting to management on legal requirements, developments, and compliance in respect of safety, health, and environmental functions.
  • Ensure compliance with SACAA and other legal requirements.
  • Monitoring stakeholder adherence and commitment to all safety policies, procedures and relevant regulations.
  • Monitoring departments on workplace hazard & risk reduction programs.
  • Managing quality of safety and operational department information submitted to SACAA, ACI, ICAO and other bodies.
  • Implementing safety, inspections and audits in line with the requirements for Safety Management System and quality operational program in accordance with ICAO, SACAA and other bodies.
  • Investigating and reporting of incidents and accidents as well as the design and implementation of remedial actions and verifies actions are effective.
  • Planning, organising, leading and controlling subordinates’ activities to ensure sub-functional objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Agree and implement own and sub-ordinates development plans. Conduct trend analysis and develop plan for reduction/ elimination of incidents and hazards. 
  • Facilitation Safety Action Group and coordinate the Safety Board Review committee.

Technical Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required:

  • 3 years bachelor’s degree in safety or related and/or Fire.
  • 5-7 years’ Operational experience in Aviation Safety & Fire.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Code B Motor vehicle license.

  • The ideal candidate must be confident, well organised and methodical and pays attention to detail. Incumbent must actively build and manage social networks both inside and outside the organisation. The incumbent must communicate well verbally, clearly explaining point of view and in reasoning both on one-on-one and large audience. The incumbent is also expected to write accurately and professionally in multiple formats, with the correct amount of detail. It is important that the ideal candidate is tactful and can communicate in a non-confrontational and polite manner. It is expected of the candidate to solve challenging problems by utilising combination of intuition and analytical thinking. Incumbent must have the ability to manage conflict.
