Job Description

  • Accountable for the strategy development and execution of Retail’s new business development and securing of the base network.
  • Leads the Network Development and Tenure Renewal Teams to ensure sustainable inorganic growth through delivering a robust pipeline of new retail sites; retaining existing base network; continuous improvement opportunities to accelerate execution; develop and maintain 5 year rolling Strategic Network Plan (SNP) which includes a high-level roadmap for identifying, assessing, and prioritizing markets, ultimately driving network development decisions (Base business & New Acquisitions).
  • To champion Post Project Appraisals (lookbacks) in the Retail Network Development community and continually assess predictive modelling tools and techniques to enhance network development decision-making capabilities and effectiveness.
  • Manages large capital plans for new business and retail tenure renewals.
  • Requires strong leadership skill to build relationships with external business partners and strategic stakeholders and with internal FU and BU leaders
  • Identify market opportunities to expand sales and earnings through the existing retail network optimizing return on investment
  • Accountable for the expansion of the retail network through new business acquisitions and developing existing retail business

Financial Perspective

  • Responsible for the 3-5 year forecast and delivery for New Business and Tenure Renewal teams. 
  • Prepare annual capital and opex budgets for new business and retail tenure renewals. Prioritise capital requirements in line with Astron Energy’s capital and retail strategies to maximise return on investment
  • Direct responsibility for managing and monitoring the Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet for the Business Development area
  • Ensure the proper follow up of the investment execution according to our internal procedures and achieve CAPEX, commitment and liquidation targets for the Retail and Marketing Business Unit.

Customer Perspective

  • Managing and retaining relationships with existing clients
  • Continuous interaction with business partners to support ongoing business, foster business relationships and develop new opportunities

Business Excellence

  • Ensure that all policies and procedures for governance are adhered to and that appropriate internal controls are in place to ensure management and reporting
  • Develop and implement systems and processes that drive productivity and efficiencies within the team
  • Work with functional unit leaders to ensure effective interfacing and continuity in processes with support functions to ensure effective delivery of projects
  • Provide advice to and collaborate with the Retail & Marketing teams in analysing new business projects and preparing proposals.
  • Work with other Retail divisions to ensure smooth handover of investment projects to Sales & Operations Team.
  • Continually network with relevant role players in the property development industry.

People Management

  • Responsible for the structure, appointment and development of a professional New Business Development and Retail Tenure Renewal team
  • Lead the team to develop, execute and deliver on growth and retail network strategies and budgets
  • Develop and implement systems and processes that drives productivity and efficiencies within the team
  • Build a high-performance team culture through effective performance management, individual development, and reward and recognition mechanisms resulting in growth and job satisfaction

Professional Qualification and Certifications:

  • Business Degree and preferably a Master’s degree

Work Experience:

  • Track record in business growth
  • Minimum 8 years’ business / real estate / network development related experience, 3 of which must have been in management
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of retail network, the regulatory framework plus leading and motivating teams to achieve exceptional business results
