Medical Specialist: Paediatrics Neurology REF NO: REFS/021894 needed at Gauteng Department of Health

REQUIREMENTS:

• Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Paediatric neurology.
• Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Paediatric neurology.
• No experience required after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist in Paediatric neurology.
• The following will serve as added advantage: Experience after registration as a Paediatric neurology.

DUTIES:

• Responsible for clinical management of the Paediatric Neurology unit at CMJAH and work with general Paediatric cases as well.
• Lead operational and academic services including post-intake, follow-up, and grand rounds.
• Supervise fellows, registrars, medical officers, intern doctors, and students in patient care and diagnostic/therapeutic procedures as the most senior doctor in the unit.
• Manage patients in OPD, subspecialty OPD, and specialty ward consultations within relevant sub-specialties.
• Serve as an exemplary medical practitioner, role model, and clinical mentor to junior doctors and clinical staff.
• Co-ordinate subspecialist services at CMJAH and cluster hospitals for both inpatient and outpatient services.
• Supervise clinical technology services as required.
• Oversee the development of referral pathways and service development at referral hospitals.
• Participate in academic duties of the WITS School of Medicine, Paediatrics, and Child Health Department.
• Perform research and supervise MMed students and fellows within the department.
• Train and supervise senior registrars, registrars, medical officers, medical interns, and medical students, including tutorials, teaching ward rounds, and skills development.
• Provide medical support and guidance within a medical multidisciplinary team.
