Role Purpose:

  • To promptly investigate and efficiently answer payment and messaging queries initiated within the FirstRand group, its customers and by overseas banks, with corrective action being taken where necessary.
  • To reconcile suspense accounts and system interfaces.
  • To control access to systems owned by Settlement & Swift, monitor that these systems function in line with SLAs, and provide first level support to users.
  • To monitor workflows and intervene, where appropriate, to address disruptions.

Are you someone who can do: 

  • Resolution of queries relating to incoming and outgoing messaging and SWIFT-based payments.
  • Reconciliation of suspense accounts and system interfaces, investigating unmatched items and initiating corrective action.
  • Administration of access control in respect of payment and messaging systems owned by S&S, involving setup of users, assignment of access profiles, resetting of passwords and regular audit of system users.
  • System monitoring, problem identification and reporting.
  • Re-routing of misdirected messages to correct destinations.
  • Management of day-to-day workflows.
  • Provision of first line support in respect of system operations and consulting services, including advice on correct message formatting.

Role Complexity

  • Differing situations requiring the identification and selection of solutions through the independent application of experience and the analysis and evaluation of information. Resolves problems using company policies, principles and standard procedures.

Level Of Accountability

  • Accountable for managing own tasks.
  • Close supervision and must comply with standard procedures

Education/Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or suitable equivalent.
  • Further education or qualification advantageous.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in treasury or general banking environment with exposure to messaging standards (preferably Swift) and payment methodologies
