PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • To safely assist with maintaining and optimising low and high-level Plant Instrumentation. Assist with coordination and provide maintenance support in your responsible area.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work execution:
  • Complete a risk assessment and obtain a work permit before task is performed
  • Perform task as outlined in the work order and as per the detailed task list
  • Perform work in a safe and reliable manner ensuring the highest level of workmanship
  • Capture history and complete the notification to the required standards
  • Confirm work order with the correct time and all details to the required standards
  • Provide feedback to the Maintenance Supervisor on any task where there is a difference between instruction and the job requirements
  • Calibration of all instrumentation equipment
  • Instrumentation maintenance, installations, and commissioning
  • Perform minor PLC program changes if required
  • Work overtime as and when required
  • Any other tasks required
  •  Planning
  • Apply fault finding techniques
  • Conduct routine plant inspections
  • Draw spares from stores if needed
  • Create a notification on SAP, new or subsequent
  • Provide correct feedback on SAP
  • Provide weekly feedback and input to the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure proper planning of scheduled tasks
  • Communicate all required spares and services to the Maintenance Planner and ensure all communication to be traceable
  • Do daily confirmation on the SAP system of work performed
  • Communicate if spares, equipment or other factors were not available for job on the work order and to the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Generate notifications from inspections and subsequent notifications
  • Support the Planning KPI’s by adhering to planning schedules
  • Unplanned Interventions:
  • Perform isolation and issue lockout documents
  • Attend to breakdown quickly and safely
  • Capture all data related to the stoppage to aid in determining the root cause
  • Communicate ways of improving how the breakdown was handled to the Maintenance Specialist
  • Standby:
  • Perform standby duties in designated area supported by a structured standby roster (own transport will be required)
  • Report any bridging or plant stoppage during call outs immediately to the Senior standby
  • Inform the Senior Standby should a call out extend longer than 1 hour
  • Capture all data related to the call out to aid in determining the root cause in the form of a call out report to be distributed before you leave the site
  • Communicate to the Senior Standby when work is completed before you leave the site
  • Rotables Management
  • Change out item
  • Create PM order detailing item to be drawn from stock
  • Create reservation for rotable on PM Order
  • Create subsequent notification
  • Complete all fields on the “Damage” tag on the return item to rotable store
  • Physically transport damaged rotable to lay down area
  • Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12/N3 or N3 that is equivalent to a Grade 12/Matric (4x Technical subjects or 4x Business subjects and 2x Languages subjects)
  • Qualified Instrumentation Trade Test certificate
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience gained in a heavy industrial environment after completion of Trade Test
  • Valid Driver’s license (minimum B/Code 8)
  • Computer literacy (MS Office & SAP)

ADVANTAGEOUS

  • Experience in Siemens PCS7 control systems
  • Experience on Profibus and Ethernet networks
  • Endress + Hauser Flow, Pressure and Level Field Transmitters
  • TDC Load cell transmitters
  • Belt Scales
  • Siemens SIMOCODE 
  • SAP System
