About the Role
This role provides critical administrative support, managing patient records and facility data with high accuracy. Utilizing internal databases and Microsoft Office, the clerk ensures compliance with data privacy laws and minimizes operational risk by maintaining organized and accessible filing systems. Their contribution is essential for the smooth functioning of hospital admissions and the accurate reporting of healthcare statistics to provincial management.
- Grade 1: None
- Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years of appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
- Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years of appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
- Knowledge of nursing care and procedures, nursing statutes, and other relevant legal frameworks. Must have good communication skills. Good Interpersonal skills.
- Provide quality basic nursing care. Provide elementary clinical nursing care. Practice nursing in accordance with the laws and regulations relevant to nursing. Assist Patients with activities of daily living, which includes, nutritional status, mobility and elimination needs.
- Maintaining professional growth, ethical standards and self-development. Record keeping Utilise human, material and physical resources efficiently and effectively.
- Qualification that allows registrations with the SANC as a Nursing Assistant.
- Registration with a professional council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant.
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary. Will be required to work shifts, night duty, weekends, and public holidays. Must be prepared to assist in all departments according to operational needs.
- Grade 1: R 174 261 – R 199 254 per annum, Grade 2: R 203 271 – R 230 694 per annum, Grade 3: R 239 559 – R 298 932 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer’s contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
Career Growth & Education
A Senior Certificate is the minimum requirement, but a Diploma in Office Administration or Public Management is highly beneficial. Career progression leads toward Administrative Officer or HR Practitioner roles for those who demonstrate strong organizational skills and technical proficiency. Developing expertise in digital document management and workflow automation through specialized workshops provides a pathway to senior administrative leadership.
