KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effective administrative support to the litigation unit.
  • Liaise with user departments to prepare for consultations.
  • Liaise with user-departments when Summons or Letters of Demand have been received by JRA to collect necessary information in preparation of consultation.
  • Meetings under the supervision of the Assistant Manager: Litigation.
  • Schedule and Arrange consultation meetings i.e. organize venues and take minutes during consultation meetings.
  • Prepare responses to correspondence i.e. letters of demand and enquiries from Statutory bodies e.g. Office of the Public Protector, South African Human Rights Council, Ombudsman, etc.
  • Prepare communications to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Financial administration, scrutinize invoices in liaison with Assistant Manager:
  • Litigations against work done and to check if correct rates /tariffs were used.
  • Maintain filing system by establishing and maintaining filing system and ensure accurate filing of all documentation in the unit.

REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Three-year Diploma in Law or NQF Level 6 equivalent
  • Three (3) years’ experience in either a Law Firm or as a Legal Advisor or Paralegal.
