About the Role
This role provides strategic and clinical leadership within a hospital unit, balancing high-level patient care with administrative efficiency. Utilizing Oracle-based clinical data systems and ServiceNow for incident management, the manager ensures 100% compliance with SANC and National Core Standards. Their leadership minimizes operational risk by optimizing staff workflows and ensuring the accurate delivery of treatment protocols in high-pressure environments.
- A minimum of 7 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
- Basic R425 qualification (i.e., diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- Effective management of nursing care, which includes effective utilization of human, financial and physical resources in the male ward. Ensure quality nursing care throughout the hospital through participation in the analysis, formulation and implementation of nursing guidelines, practices standards and procedures. Provision of effective support and standby duty for Nursing Management.
- Implement and oversee effective processes and practices regarding all statistical information needed to render a quality health service. Supervise, plan and implement the provision of effective and efficient infection control measures. Maintain and participate in inter-professional and multi-disciplinary teamwork.
- Knowledge and insight of relevant legislation and policy related to nursing s within the public sector and basic computer literacy (MS Word, Excel and Outlook). Ability to promote quality patient care through the setting, implementation and monitoring of standards.
- Effective communication, interpretation, leadership, decision-making and conflict resolution and organizational skills. Knowledge of health applications i.e. Clinicom, SINJANI and HECTIS.
- No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. Shortlisted candidates may be required to do a practical test and will be subjected to a Competency Assessment.
- The pool of applications will be considered for vacancies within (Langeberg Sub District), for a period of three months from the date of the advert, provided that the job title, core functions, inherent requirements and salary level are the same as those of the advertised post.
- Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse and Midwife and proof of current registration. (i.e., annual licencing receipt of 2025)
- Work after-hours, shifts, weekends and public holidays when required. Standby for Hospital. Valid (code B/EB) driver’s licence. Willingness to assist in other wards when required.
- Grade 1: R 549 192 – 629 121 per annum (Plus a 8% rural allowance of your annual basic salary) Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer’s contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).

A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and extensive experience in a clinical specialty (e.g., Trauma, Pediatrics) are essential. Career growth leads toward Nursing Director or Facility Manager roles within provincial health structures. Salary & Financial Insight
Annual packages for Operational Managers range from R550,000 to R990,000 depending on seniority and specialty (OSD Grade 1–2).
