Operational Manager Nursing Grade 1 (Admission Ward) Job at Gauteng Department of Health

Requirements :

• A minimum of Diploma/Degree in General Nursing Science or equivalent qualification that allows registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional / Registered Nurse with Midwifery.
• A Diploma /Degree in Nursing Administration/ Health Services Management. A minimum 7 years appropriate /recognizable experience in Nursing after registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
• Good communication skills, report writing skills, facilitation skills, coordination skills, planning and organizational skills, problem solving skills, information management skills, conflict management skills and leadership skills.
• Manage own performance and be able to work as part of the Multidisciplinary team. Be able to supervise staff and patient care in the unit. Always be available in case of emergencies and shortage of staff.

Duties :

• Overall supervision and control of quality patient care in the unit. Ensure the formulation and availability of clinical patient care protocols and policies in the department. Efficient implementation and evaluation of patient care programmes in the unit according to departments strategic goals. Ensure adequate and appropriate staffing according to needs.
• Effective monitoring and management of absenteeism. Accountable for overall and effective management of nursing duties. Establish efficient communication with the multidisciplinary team.
• Responsible for the implementation of disciplinary measures. Secure and allocate resources and budget to achieve workplace objectives. Proactively identify performance requirements to improve teamwork.
• Ensure performance, evaluation, management and development of staff. Ensure the adherence to National Core Standards and Ideal Hospital Framework.
