Operational Manager Nursing Grade 1 (PN- A5) Medicine & Psychiatry(Medical Outpatients) needed at Gauteng Department of Health

Requirements :

• Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma or degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• A post basic qualification in Health Services Management/Nursing Administration registered with SANC.
• A minimum of seven (7) years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council.

COMPETENCIES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

• Competencies: leadership, ward management/ward administration, planning, organizing, co-ordination and communication skills.
• Ability to take charge and make appropriate independent decisions.
• Display empathy for patients, promoting advocacy and facilitate holistic treatment and care.
• Knowledge of administrative policies and guidelines.

Duties :

• Supervise and evaluate quality of nursing care as directed by Professional scope of practice andset Nursing standards within a professional /legal framework. Implement nursing legislation and related framework and ethical nursing practices.
• Manage resources effectively and efficiently in the unit. Compile and analyze reports to improve quality of patient care. Participate in training, research, and self-development. Be allocated to work night shifts, weekends, public holidays and relieve the supervisor when required.
• Perform as an Operational Manager in accordance with the Scope of Practice Demonstrate effective communication with patients, supervisors and other health professionals and junior colleagues. Implementation of Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance Framework.
