ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Provide high-level legal, research, contract, and compliance support across HyperionDev, Longdue, and the studio’s other entities. This role is hands-on, detail-driven, and suited to someone who enjoys working directly with our founder/CEO in a fast-moving, startup-like environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft, review, and proofread commercial agreements (contractors, employment, suppliers, NDAs, IP assignments, partnership agreements).
  • Conduct legal research and summarise findings clearly for leadership and internal teams.
  • Support corporate governance across multiple entities (board packs, resolutions, filings, compliance calendars).
  • Maintain and improve contract lifecycle management processes with impeccable accuracy.
  • Track renewals, deliverables, obligations, and version history.
  • Assist with employment-related matters (templates, warnings, letters, documentation logs).
  • Liaise with external counsel, compliance bodies, and internal teams.
  • Manage legal documentation, data rooms, and sensitive files with precision.
  • Prepare risk reports, compliance updates, and presentation decks for the CEO and senior leadership.
  • Support POPIA compliance and data-handling requirements across entities.
  • Handle ad-hoc, high-priority tasks directly from the CEO/founder, often with short turnaround times.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum

  • 3+ years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant.
  • Hands-on experience drafting or reviewing commercial agreements.
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail (documents, grammar, numbers).
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership or a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace.

Preferred

  • Exposure to startup or high-growth environments.
  • Experience working directly with founders/CEOs.
  • Knowledge of corporate governance, board processes, and resolutions.
  • Familiarity with POPIA, employment matters, and company secretarial work.
  • Experience using contract lifecycle or legal document management systems.
  • Partial or full LLB qualification.
