Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Monitoring Inventory Levels: Ensuring that there is always a sufficient stock of parts and materials without overstocking.
  • Reordering: Placing orders for materials or parts when inventory levels drop below a certain threshold.
  • Cycle Counting: Regularly counting inventory to ensure accuracy and reconcile any discrepancies.
  • Supplier Communication: Working closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and materials.
  • Scheduling Deliveries: Coordinating the timing of deliveries to align with production schedules.
  • Vendor Management: Evaluating supplier performance and resolving any issues that could impact production
  • Send Call-off requests for material from Durban crossdock and coordinate daily loads for UD Plant Pretoria.
  • Monitoring of arrival of trucks from Durban crossdock.
  • Control of keys and data plates for all cabs received from Durban crossdock
  • Inspection of cargo from Durban crossdock per tally sheet (Invoice), and shipment schedule oversee and monitor offloading of all cargo.
  • Ensure quality of material during the transport process, report and act towards quality issues (UD damages).
  • Instruct plant employees on which KMP (UD Packaging) and returnable steel racks to be sorted during the day.
  • Manage KMP empty packaging from plant to breakdown and Export readiness.
  • Book transport for collection of KMP and returnable steel racks.
  • Ensuring all loaded trucks with KMP and returnable steel racks are compliant with South African Road Traffic Regulations (e.g. height & CBM).
  • Quarterly stock count of KMP and returnable steel racks, including update in KMP system.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Manager

Problem-Solving:

  • Address and resolve any issues related to customs clearance, including delays, misclassification, or disputes.

Safety Protocols:

  • Implementing and enforcing safety procedures for handling materials and operating logistics equipment
  • Daily deviation report to stakeholders.
  • Reporting of all damages to respective stakeholders.
  • Reporting of any risk/compliance deviations where applicable.
  • Problem-Solving
  • Customer interaction – Liaising with internal customers to manage expectations and provide updates regarding delivery schedules.

Minimum qualifications

  • Working knowledge of all related operational processes.
  • Transport operations planning calculation of CBM (cubic meter), vehicle combinations
  • Knowledge and understanding of the organisations systems, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge and awareness of any new developments within operations.
  • Ability to operate IT/Software used within the organisation.
  • Abilities to set objectives.
  • Reporting skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Business acumen.
