Plant Supervisor (Mogobe) Job at Scatec ASA

Main purpose of position

• Currently we are looking for a Working Plant Supervisor in Kathu, Northern Cape, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future.  As our Plant Supervisor, you will be responsible for the General and Safe Operation at the plants under his/her control and to ensure maximum power supply to the grid. Additionally, be responsible for Maintenance activities on site and to assist and coordinating and facilitating control Officer duties as per PSR and ORHVS requirements and as required by the Plant Safety Engineer. 

Main responsibilities

• Ultimately be responsible for safe switching operations on all Scatec power plants
• Assist with plant maintenance activities
• Responsible for maintaining warranties on plant equipment
• Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted according to OEM’s guidelines
• Ensure HSSEQ is always maintained on site
• Assist RCO’s (Regional Control Officers) to ensure the safety of authorised operators and the plant in context with the Scatec O&M-PSR (SOM Plant Safety Regulations) and Scatec O&M-ORHVS (SOM Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems)
• Ensure SOP and method statements are in place and adhered to
• Perform maintenance activities on site including preventative and corrective work
• Ensure all ORHVS and other related regulations are always adhered this includes switching operations, earthing of equipment and LOTO
• Control the assessment process for ORHVS Authorised Persons
• Ensure all operating is carried out in accordance with the SOM-PSR and SOM-ORHVS
• Liaise with Utilities and ensure required communication and notices are done correctly and on time
• Assist with and coordinate emergency situations that pose a risk to personnel and plant
• Advise on technical related issues with regards to Plant operations where needed
• Assist PSE with Incident investigations
• Ensure the plant operates within its budget
• Ensure timely response to operational events and alarms
• Ensure operating diagrams are up to date, including all earth positions
• Report incorrect indications on SCADA
• Manage the site team and ensure all POE and authorisations in terms of the SOM-PSR and SOM-ORHVS, are up to date and valid
• Manage any conflict or disciplinary concerns in a timely fashion
• Ensure all Authorised Persons training/authorisations are up to date and valid
• Arrange all training and assessment where needed
• Manage the plant budget

Qualifications and competencies 

• National Diploma in Engineering
• ECSA registered or eligible for registration as Engineering Technician
• 3+ years experience in a management position
• Proven experience with BESS and or PV Plants
• Excellent Computer literacy
• Proven experience in managing service level agreements and management of stakeholders
• Electrical knowledge (LV) and (HV)
