KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute media outreach strategies to pitch our achievements and journalists’ stories to relevant media outlets, bloggers, and influencers;
  • Create engaging PR articles, press releases, and other promotional materials;
  • Participate in the development and implementation of company PR projects and events;
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, influencers, and industry stakeholders to secure media placements and collaborations;
  • Handle local partnerships;
  • Monitor media coverage and track PR performance, providing regular reports and insights to the team;
  • Collaborate closely with the editorial team to align PR efforts with content strategies.

‍QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field;
  • Proven 2-year experience as a PR Manager or similar role, preferably in the media industry;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Impeccable literacy;
  • Strong media relationships and a network of contacts;
  • A systematic approach to getting things done;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle crises effectively;
  • Proficiency in media monitoring tools and PR software is a plus;
  • Knowledge of the South African media landscape is highly desirable;
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Figma, Canva or some other editing software.
