Overall purpose of the role

  • The purpose of this role is to price and manage the risk in respect of new Group Risk business and/or amendments to existing Group Risk business to ensure profitability and sustainability. The area is a high-pressure environment, and the suitable candidate needs to be able to produce high quality work while ensuring that tight deadlines are met. 

Key responsibilities

  • Screening and analysing new business and/or amendment to existing business quotation requests. 
  • Gathering, assessing and analysing all relevant information needed to calculate risk rates for new business and/or amendments to existing business quotations. 
  • Manipulate and validate member data.
  • Assess and analyse claims experience.
  • Set suitable terms and conditions to effectively manage risk.
  • Accurate capturing of data for business reporting purposes.
  • Compile quotation documentation for new business and /or amendment to existing business quotations.
  • Provide quality service to clients/intermediaries.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement to ensure optimal operational efficiency.
  • Create a positive work environment.

Qualifications and experience

  • Matric with Mathematics (minimum C symbol with regards to Mathematics – not Mathematics literacy)
  • A Minimum of 2 to 4 years’ experience in a Group Risk environment with experience in a Group Risk pricing division such as a Group Risk Tenders or Group Risk Revisions teams a definite requirement.

Knowledge and skills

  • Excellent Product knowledge and understanding of the Group Risk Industry and Pricing principles.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel).
