Description
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY
- Identify and assess level of issue-based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
- Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
- Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
- Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
- Adhere to all related SOP’s, PTO’s and CTO’s as per training matrix per person, SHEQ and company standards.
CUSTOMERS
- Achieve process quality and budget
- Define critical process control parameters and implement a system for continuous monitoring, measurement and management of these parameters to ensure that required process quality is maintained
- Ensure Customer Satisfaction and manage monthly SLA measurement and discussions with internal customers
BUSINESS PROCESSES
- Research, analysis and development for continuous improvement of metallurgical processes at Pelletising and Sintering plants. This includes technical report writing, Mass balance development and presentation of results
Process Management:
- Achieve process quality and budget
- Manage metallurgical process for optimal efficiency
- Manage and optimise plant control
- Grinding, Filtering, Pelletising and Sintering Management
- Refractory management
Process Reliability:
- Update Process Strategy
- Monitor and improve process monitoring systems
- Evaluation of process CPI’s and action deviations
- Continuous improvement of refractories and process equipment
- Implement Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) findings
- Update and manage MES requirements
- Report on process measures, CPI’s and KPI’s
- Utilisation of MOC and Management plans to effectively evaluate continuous improvements
- Process data analysis and process optimisation
- Consumable monthly orders
- Month end reporting
Project Management:
- Management of projects, which includes control of project budgets and delivery of results and recommendations on time
- Ensure proper integration of improvement projects

Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
- Relevant Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering Degree (BEng / BSc/ B.Tech or National Diploma)
- 4 years’ relevant experience
Additional qualifications:
- Knowledge of Samancor Systems would be advantageous
