The product owner is the lead user of the product with a solid understanding of our clients, users, the cloud, information technology and telecoms market, the competition, and of future trends in the industry. They direct teams on what features the product will have and support the adoption of the product within our clients and thus need to understand the telecoms and enterprise domain to make sound decisions. 

What You will do within this role (Your key responsibilities): 

 Strategic Planning 

  • Defining the vision of the product and its roadmap. 
  • Manage multiple streams of requests into Product Backlog 
  • Market trends analysis 
  • Go to market strategy 
  • Budget and ROI management 
  • Alignment with Marketing and Sales objectives and KPI’s 

Operational Management 

  • Translating the roadmap into product backlog with prioritised feature list. 
  • Manage the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities. 
  • Analyse and improve processes related to the use of the product internally and at clients 
  • Maintain good 3rd party relationships for the product (e.g. Microsoft, Telecoms Service Providers, client integrated systems). 
  • Manage the rollout of the product to new clients and increase the adoption rate of new features in existing clients. 

Product Administration 

  • Write well-formed User Stories with acceptance criteria to enable development teams. 
  • Prepare and present the target deliverables in the Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Retrospective, Backlog grooming) 
  • Maintain effective documentation and training material like user guides on the product. 
  • Support initial customer engagement by demonstration material, customer onboarding documentation as well as ensuring overall product documentation and training is accurate and up to date. 
  • Manage UAT’s and prioritisation of UAT feedback with stakeholders 
  • Act as the primary point of contact between internal and external clients and the development team. 

More about You (Our requirements for the role):

  • You hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field with preference given to Information Technology or Information Systems degrees.
  • Additional certifications such as Certified Product Owner course or Business Analysis diploma will be highly beneficial. 
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar capacity (or business analysis) within software development environments is essential to success in this role. 
  • Prior exposure to cloud technologies will be highly beneficial. 
  • You are self-organized, driven and able to manage multiple projects.
  • You have a strong orientation towards continuous learning, and enjoy working within entrepreneurial environments 
  • You are self-reliant and have a good understanding of development workflows
