Job Description

• Our client is a leading grower, packer, and exporter of fresh fruit, specializing in citrus, and avocados. With production units situated across the Western Cape and a head office based in Bellville near Cape Town, the company is committed to excellence in every aspect of its operations
• Our client currently has an exciting opportunity for a Citrus and/or Avocado Production Manager to join the team at their production units in Buffeljags River near Swellendam. The position reports directly to the Farm Manager and is available for an immediate start

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Production: Plant, schedule irrigation, apply fertilizer, pest, plague and weed control, prune, harvest, monitoring, all manipulations
• Personnel and administration: Labor planning and management, recordkeeping, plan transport and accommodation, maintenance (equipment / orchards / general)
• Financial: Cost control by focusing on productivity

Minimum Requirements:

• Applicants should be post-matric with a relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture, with at least 5 years’ experience in the cultivation of citrus and/or avocados
• Knowledge of modern production practices
• Specific knowledge/ experience in irrigation practices will be to your advantage
• Good leadership and communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel)
