KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
REPORTING AND DOCUMENTATION:
- Keep shift production reports updated to reflect performance and costs.
- Document processes and specifications as SOPs and store them centrally.
- Ensure operators follow current SOPs for consistency.
- Work with the Needlepunch Manager on continuous improvement to enhance output and manage constraints.
OEE – OVERALL EQUIPMENT EFFICIENCY:
- Maintenance & Maximize output while minimizing waste.
- Deliver daily production updates that align with the Operations Strategy Framework.
- Actively assist the Needlepunch Manager in reporting and providing feedback for Integrated Business Planning processes and projects to meet strategic goals.
- Collaborate with the Needlepunch Manager to optimize weekly shift rosters for operators and other personnel to meet capacity needs cost-effectively
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT:
- Supervise the shift to meet production output requirements while ensuring quality standards.
- Monitor and reduce waste levels, including off-quality products and raw material usage.
- Maintain production OEE within targets and minimize downtime.
- Ensure correct machine setup and changes; perform these tasks if mechanics are unavailable.
- Execute minor maintenance as authorized and collaborate with the maintenance team on ongoing equipment upkeep.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
- Monitor daily timekeeping of direct reports and manage shift performance to maintain a high-performance environment aligned with company values.
- Collaborate with the Needlepunch Manager on disciplinary actions.
- Select, train, and motivate shift employees to promote accountability and engagement.
- Supervise employees to foster a positive industrial relations climate and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Stay informed on industry best practices to align processes with trends and strategic goals for sustainability.
WASTE MANAGEMENT:
- Achieve Green status on the RAG Reduce waste by meeting OTIF and Quality goals
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric with Maths is essential
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- CTFL Learnership or Carpet Technology or a recognized production qualification or 5 years relevant production experience in Needle Punch is essential.
- Good knowledge of quality control standards and testing techniques
- Must not be colour blind
- Must have good vision (to see the finer details in yarn or carpet processing)
- Good knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001,18001 is an advantage
- System and application knowledge e.g. 5S, D365
- The incumbent required significant technical knowledge and experience (minimum 5 years) in Needle Punch production
