Purpose of Position
- To provide a comprehensive Wellness mobile health service by providing HIV testing and counselling services linked to screening and diagnosing clients for TB/STI’s. Provision of treatment and clinical care to HIV & TB patients and ensure successful linkage to care and adherence with specific focused on the sex worker.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor’s degree (B. Cur)
- Qualification in community health nursing or primary health care will be an advantage
- Minimum of 3 years working experience in public health care sector coupled with clinical management of TB and HIV after registration
- NIMART trained & certified
- Dispensing license
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a professional nurse?
- Sound knowledge on TB/HIV data tools and systems.?
- Proficiency in English and another South African language
- Valid driver’s license
- Clear criminal record
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop an outline of presentation in TB/HIV service provision
- Coordinate visits screenings to sex work community on outreach with collaborating organisation team
- Maintain relations with managers by providing feedback on number of clients seen at sites
- Order monthly stock of medications needed for Wellness and HCT programmes
- Conduct physical examination and proper history taking on clients seen on the mobile.
- Provide appropriate syndromic treatment for STI’s, Fertility planning and other health related illness.
- Train to complete the PI VCT register and monthly report new cases.
- Compile a record on the confirmed clinic the clients will attend and document referral or LTF using Tools and algorithm
- Regular program in tracing clients by telephone, home visits or other
- Collaborate with community role-players in engaging scaling up of TB/HIV service provision
- Maintain relations with health services and other NGO’s working to support program
- Appropriate referral of all the necessary health related conditions needed further management- ART, psychosocial, substance abuse, gender-based violence, etc.
- Adhere to waste disposal
- Adhere to needle stick injury policy
- Engage in sex work support including helping coordinate and /or manage support groups
- Participate in sex work’s support meetings and structures as directed by Key Populations Program Manager
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent knowledge of HIV, TB and STI, prevention approaches and DoH screening guidelines
- An in-depth understanding and knowledge of legislative requirements, acceptable practices and procedures
- High-level planning and organisational skills
- Good communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills, including being a team player
- Demonstrate strong professional attitude and behaviour at all times
- Ability to work non-traditional hours which may include weekends from time to time
- Knowledge of statistics and reporting
