About the Role

This high-RPM clinical role provides life-saving care in high-pressure emergency environments, managing critical patient data and clinical interventions. Utilizing specialized medical software and ensuring strict compliance with SANC protocols, the nurse mitigates operational risk in acute care settings. Their work is vital for public health stability, delivering expert trauma care while maintaining the highest standards of medical ethics and data accuracy.

  • A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence. Willingness to work shifts, Sundays, public holidays, night shift and overtime
  • Basic R425 qualification (i. e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
  • Post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least one year accredited with the SANC in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: General or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: Trauma and Emergency.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how this impact on service delivery. Effective interpersonal, leadership, organisational, decision making and conflict resolution skills. Be knowledgeable about South African Triage Scale (SATS) and Emergency Nursing. Good communication skills. Computer literacy (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Grade 1: A Minimum of 4 years’ appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
  • Grade 2: A minimum of 14 years’ appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
  • At least 10 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in the specific speciality after obtaining the 1-year post-basic nursing qualification in the relevant speciality as mentioned above.
  • No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a practical/written and oral assessment. Candidates who are not in possession of the required qualifications will be appointed into the general stream, and they will be required to obtain the necessary qualifications within a predetermined period of time. Candidates who are not in possession of the stipulated registration requirements, may also apply. Such candidates will only be considered for appointment on condition that proof of application for registration to register with the relevant council and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees to the relevant council are submitted on or before the day of the interview. This concession is only applicable to candidates who apply for the first time for registration in the post-basic qualification in Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: General or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care Nursing: Trauma and Eme
  • Provide holistic specialized nursing care to patients in a cost-effective manner. Effective implementation of infection control policies and health and safety legislation. Assist with managing human and material resources. Maintain a constructive working relationship with nursing and other stakeholders. Participate in training, development and research within the nursing department. Provision of Support to Nursing Services.
  • Registration with the SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
  • Grade 1: R 476 367 per annum; Grade 2: R 583 989 per annum (Plus non pensionable rural allowance of 8% of your annual basic salary). Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer’s contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).

A Diploma/Degree in Nursing and a Post-Basic specialty qualification in Trauma/Emergency Nursing are mandatory.
