Requirements

  • National Diploma or Degree/Advanced Diploma in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Production Management, or Operations Management, which includes Statistics as a module.
  • APICS Certificate in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) would be advantageous.
  • Matric with Mathematics, Physical Science, and/or Accounting.
  • 3 years’ experience in Materials Planning and Supply Chain Management as well as Statistical Data Analysis.
  • Computer literacy (MM modules of ERP systems like SAP and Microsoft Office with particular emphasis on Excel).
  • A valid Code EB/B driver’s license.

Key Performance Areas

  • Monitor and optimize stock levels in all SCM stores across the City of Cape Town municipality.
  • Review the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) parameters for all inventory stock items.
  • Optimize inventory to achieve a stock turn rate of 3.5 and above.
  • Liaise with MRP controllers in the various stores.
  • Clean up and reduce MRP errors.
  • Manage MRP Controllers; conduct periodical MRP training, continuously analyze patterns, SAP reports, and historical demand.
  • Ensure that operational planning and processes for the management of stock are aligned with financial planning and supply and demand forecasting.
  • Monitor regular stock counts, determine variances in stock numbers, and analyze causes of variances.
  • Investigate stock losses, establish reasons, report to management, and implement preventative controls.
  • Reduce and report on slow-moving stock, obsolete, and redundant stock.
  • Achieve an average in stock of 95% for the financial year.
  • Monitor stock material purchases not on contract that could exceed R750,000 within the financial year; escalate these to the ISM Manager for action.
  • Draft letters and reports to provide information and resolve more complex queries or problems.
  • Direct staff in the stores and inventory branch to account for activities in support of compliance, reporting, and management of stock levels.
  • Arrange and chair planning meetings and liaise with internal stakeholders for continuous improvement.
  • Contract administration – assist the Senior Inventory Accountant with contract management, which includes implementation, monitoring, reporting, and corrective actions.
