Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for the clinical supervision of 3rd and 4th year students on the academic platform.
- Provide learning opportunities to the students in the clinical area.
- Involved in the evaluation of the students not only during the clinical rotations, but also during clinical tests and examinations as determined by the Department of Physiotherapy.
- Assess and complete evaluation forms of students.
- Provide written and verbal feedback to students.
- Involved in objective structured practical examinations (OSPE) and tests as indicated by the department.
- Facilitate clinical training at the academic hospital complex sites in Bloemfontein.
- Report on clinical training activities at clinical sites.
- Keep record of all student consultations and writing of reports with regards to student academic support and development interventions.
- Liaise with programme directors/ module leaders/ lecturers and other relevant personnel in the Department of Physiotherapy with a view to provide academic support for undergraduate students.
- Liaise closely with clinical therapists in areas allocated to clinical educator.
- Facilitate teaching, learning and assessment strategies, as well as activities and outcomes for undergraduate students.
- Plan and implement relevant interventions to provide academic support for undergraduate students.
- Participate in departmental research.
- Perform clinical assessment and examination administration and organisation.
- Attend and contribute to relevant meetings.
Inherent Job Requirements:
- Professional bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy on NQF Level 8.
- Registration as a Physiotherapist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
- Valid driver’s license.

- The ability to teach and train students according to the minimum requirements of the HPCSA.
- Must be able to work independently and arrange their own work schedule.
- Must be dependable.

- Experience in higher education and/or supervision of students during clinical training.
- The department will encourage the appointee to enrol for the HPEA module on assessment as presented by Division Health Science Education.
