FULL PROFESSOR
- A PhD in Physics
- A minimum of ten (10) years of consistent, extensive, and excellent performance in teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision (Master’s and Doctoral)
- Achievement of international recognition through research outputs within the last ten (10) years, emphasizing recent research outputs.
- Significant contribution to community engagement.
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
- A PhD in Physics.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of consistent, extensive, and excellent performance in teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision.
- Achievement of national and/or international recognition through research outputs within the last seven (7) years.
- Significant contribution to community engagement.
Additional Recommendations
- The applicant should have a broad knowledge of Physics modules and a good research profile.
- A broad understanding of current research developments and teaching trends within the discipline
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Good organizational and planning skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications and a strong work ethic
- Experience in e-Learning
Summary of Duties
- Management of all learning, teaching, assessment, and research matters.
- Assist in curriculum development
- Conduct research and publish in accredited journals
HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
- Five (5) years fixed contract, renewable for one additional term based on performance Appointment at Professor/ Associate Professor
Minimum requirements:
- A PhD in the relevant discipline
- Relevance in this context will depend on the cluster of academic programmes located in the department Associate Professors, Professors
- Five (5) years’ experience in higher education and academic leadership Scholarship leadership and scholarship
Summary of duties
- Dealing with student queries and complaints regarding the Department/Programme.
Managing and supervising staff which includes: –
The allocation of
- Leave management.
- Enhancing staff relations and building a team towards a student centred department.
- Attending to matters such as study leave, grievances, disputes, training & development.
- Appointment of part-time and replacement
- Programme and project
- Enhancing Faculty projects g. Post graduate Recruitment and supervision, Siyaphumelela, FYSE, Orientation and Graduation.
- To provide leadership to the department with respect of teaching & learning and research.
