Description
Strategy Execution: Portfolio/Programme Management
- Develop and institutionalise EPPF’s strategic portfolio of programmes and projects management framework, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals and objectives of the fund.
- Provide leadership & oversee the portfolio of programmes and projects, ensuring that all initiatives and programmes are executed efficiently, with measurable outcomes that align with business objectives.
- Ensure successful delivery of solutions by managing all delivery verticals in the organisation. Designs, delivers, and monitors execution and value realisation plans
- Ensure that transformation initiatives are successfully implemented within EPPF.
- Drive and facilitate prioritisation within a portfolio and across portfolios to achieve portfolio balancing for effective execution.
- Serve as the EPPF programme and project management methodology subject matter expert, consulting within the organisation to apply industry best practices and ensure execution success.
- Clarifies roles and responsibilities within the strategic project teams and ensures compliance with the organisation’s wider program and/or portfolio management decision-making structures and processes.
- Provide coordination and/or facilitation role within applicable governance forums, assisting leadership with organising programs and projects to align with enterprise strategy and objectives.
People Management
- Manage planning of resource requirements, ensure sufficient capable resources are in place to meet service delivery demands, maintaining the effective and efficient capability of the project team.
- Build a high performing team where the best people are deployed in the right roles and deliver against strategy.
- Ensure that all employees are motivated, developed.
- Manage employees’ performance and ensure that their individual and collective performance is of the required standard.
- Implement and maintain an effective system of internal controls and delegations of authority for the department, to ensure that accountability for decisions made.
- Inspires, aligns and engages employees around the vision and strategy of the Fund, maximising employee engagement and willingness to invest discretionary effort
Strategy Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- Identify and monitor the progress of risks and issues that potentially impact the business transformation initiatives.
- Manage the strategy, programme and project review processes; provide stakeholders with accurate and relevant data, information and key recommendations at agreed review points to enable them to evaluate strategic progress and agree on change.
- Report portfolio status timely and accurate information focused on decision making.
- Provide enterprise and business portfolio performance reporting and insight.
- Provide detailed programme and project performance reporting of strategic initiatives for the executive portfolio.
- Manage identification of strategic risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints associated with the portfolio of programmes and projects, escalating these where appropriate. Where necessary, develop, agree on, and implement solutions to overcome these.
- Chair project governance forums where designated and attend project meetings and discussion forums.
Vendor and Service Provider Management
- Plan, Lead and coordinate the procurement process around the appointment of vendors and service providers to assist the with the execution of projects insofar as Project Management is concerned.
- Establish relationships with suitable vendors and service providers for current and future projects
- Identify, coordinate and establish mechanisms to drive enhanced value from project vendors and service providers.
Project Governance
- Setting up and management of the Program Management Office
- Establish practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities in the organisation.
- Identify PMO Book of work
- Ensure all projects are properly resourced and structured
- Ensure all project governance structures are operational
- Manage project stage gates, ensure project are reviewed formally at key points through project journey
- Execute and manage the Project Management Benefit Realisation process.
Budget Management
- Define Budget
- Control and monitor budget
- Update and report on the budget
Requirements
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- In-depth knowledge of Program Management as a discipline
- Knowledge of pension fund governance frameworks
- Strong background in business skills, management, budgeting and analysis

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION
- Honours degree in Commerce, Business Management, Financial Management or equivalent.
- Master’s degree in business management, Strategy, Financial Management or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Acknowledged Project Management Qualification (Prince -2; PBBOK or equivalent)
REQUIRED MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
- 5 to 8 years’ Experience having worked with a corporate strategy, business development, consulting, or a similar role operating at a senior manager for 5 years is essential for the role
- Experience in setting up a Portfolio or PMO office within a strategy and transformation office
- Experience in managing complex stakeholder interests, manging change and driving culture transformation
