Job Description
- Join Lactalis at our PE Plant in the Engineering department with the main responsibilities being to manage multiple projects and lead contractors and subcontractor teams.
- Successful candidates need to have at least 10 years’ experience in Production and/or projects in FMCG environment (Dairy).
- Must be able to demonstrate sound knowledge of planned and execution of projects, compiling and managed budget.
- Must fully adhere to all Safety & Health policies, procedures, and legislation.
- Be fluent in English and be computer literate
Required Skills
- Tertiary technical qualification and Business Qualification, preferably in a mechanical field.
- PMP Certification advantageous.
- Min 8- 10 years team and project management experience in the dairy/FMCG environment.
- Sound experience in administration, planning and organising.
- Sound leadership and project management skills
- Excellent computer literacy: MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, ERP system, AutoCAD
- Excellent communicator with well-developed management and leadership skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be willing to work overtime in line with plant requirements
- In-depth knowledge and experience of Dairy Plants and Equipment
- Managed all aspects of Dairy Plant operations
- Proficient in various control software and control systems (PLC’s and SCADA)
- Computer literacy (Project Management and MS Projects)
- Excellent decision making, analytic, accuracy and attention to detail
- Support commercial management to implement category strategies
- Involved in product development and design initiatives
- Design and implement operations solutions with the rest of the management team
- Speedy & effective handling of engineering solutions in the plant as they arise
- Achievement of agreed performance parameters within approved Capital Projects
- Setting of targets and Management of project budgets
- Projects to be well planned on MS Project and completed on time
- Negotiation with Suppliers on quotations/tenders
- Proven track record of successful Management of projects
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists with planning and execution of projects to meet delivery, cost, and quality requirements.
- Leads multiple contractor and subcontractor teams, ensuring efficient and effective utilisation of
- these resources to meet the plants’ requirements.
- Monitoring of projects including cost control and scope control
- Identifying continuous improvement projects
- Assisting in CAPEX application processes.
- Ensure all Sher requirements are complied with i.r.o. projects
- Ensure all projects adhere to/comply with Food Safety Standards
- Ensure all project personnel adhere to SHER standards
- Key Performance Areas, Plant project management and general projects at the Plant
- Provide Dairy processing expertise to the group.
- Assist the Plant Manager & Technical Manager with improving production efficiencies and reduce cost (Capex projects and or Major maintenance projects).
- Do regular detailed technical audits on production lines with reports and recommendations.
- Participate in weekly meetings regarding the plants’ previous week’s Efficiencies and improvement action plans.
- Improve reliability and availability of production lines
- Train staff in plants on best practices in plants.
- Conducting feasibility studies and optimizing resources.
- Supporting the transfer of expertise to the Operational Team, by providing training concepts and interventions
- Give technical input for Capex requirements and plant availability over a 3-year plan.
- Align technical project planning with company strategy for optimal balance between timing, Capex, resources, and technical output.
- Ensuring best practice standards
- Networking and liaising with Engineering Design companies, equipment suppliers and New Technology providers as well within the Lactalis Group
- Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and safety Act and all other statutory requirements in the design and implementation of equipment and systems.
- Complying to an integrated Risk Management system in designing and operating of equipment and systems.
