Role Responsibilities

With Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) legislation being critical to reputation and licence to operate in SA, the incumbent will:

  • Develop and implement BBBBEE strategy in line with Diageo ambition
  • Support HR planning (people & learning dev); procurement and commercial execution that optimise BBBEE outcomes
  • Track and report to Exec and others on performance against target
  • Annual audit process and secure valid certificate – as required for trading licence and customer relationships
  • Alignment of BBBEE with initiatives to attain Society 2030: Spirit of Progress targets on Inclusion and Diversity
  • Develop and maintain positive relations with regulators relevant to the licence to trade and other business operations including importation and exportation within SWC Africa 
  • Lead the CR function contribution to managing key risks and strategic opportunities for the business, including but not limited to, response to the risk of illicit trade; and exploring opportunities from regional trade agreements and other public sector incentives
  • Lead advocacy campaigns on business priority risk/opportunity, including leading efforts to align industry or business associations, media communication for public awareness and mobilisation of support from govt, regulators and other relevant stakeholders   
  • Drive awareness and enforce compliance with SA industry marketing code, Diageo Marketing Code and labelling regulations including approval of new marketing material

Requirements

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Political Sciences, Economics, or Legal.

Experience – Essential

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in managing regulatory affairs
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation ability
  • Detailed understanding of and experience in implementing BBBEE programme for a multi-national
  • Corporate communication skills and experience in media and advocacy campaign management
  • Advanced stakeholder engagement capability
  • Understanding of the Southern African policy and political landscape as well as legislative framework
