Job description:

  • OMI Solutions is looking for a Public Participation Facilitator to manage and execute all public participationn processes associated with environmental authorisation and related regulatory requirements.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating and running all public participation processes from initiation to completion.
  • Preparing and placing public notices, including newspaper adverts and on-site notices.
  • Managing stakeholder databases, correspondence, and engagement records.
  • Organising, facilitating, and recording public meetings and engagement sessions, including all relatedlogistics such as venue bookings and preparation of materials.
  • Communicating with Interested and Affected Parties (I&APs), including distributing notifications andtracking comments.
  • Ensuring compliance with NEMA, EIA Regulations, and related public participation guidelines.
  • Preparing public participation reports, comment-and-response reports, and submission documentation.
  • Assisting project teams with stakeholder-related tasks and supporting Environmental Assessment Practitioners where needed.
  • Maintaining accurate filing and documentation of all public participation material.
  • Must be able to assist the EAP and ESG teams with social inputs into various projects.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

  • Minimum of a National Diploma or Degree in Environmental Management, Communication, Social Sciences, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in public participation, stakeholder engagement, or environmental consulting (public participation role).
  • Knowledge of NEMA, EIA Regulations, and formal public participation requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse communities. Multilingual abilities will be highly advantageous.
  • Experience organising meetings, facilitating discussions, and managing stakeholder interactions.
  • Ability to draft clear, professional reports and correspondence.
  • Must be well-organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
  • Comfortable travelling for site visits, meetings, and placement of site notices.
  • Code B (Code 8) driver’s licence and own transport advantageous.
