Responsibilities:
- Upgrade PR strategy and ensure that all brand communication and activities align with it, regularly review KPIs achievement
- Get media mentions of the brand and key personalities in Pan-African and global media by publishing case-studies, reports, interviews and op-eds according to the KPIs
- Monitor media mentions and document all key activities and results
- Organise media partnerships with the biggest events and organisations in South Africa
- Monitor and apply for awards to showcase Briefly News brand
- Promote key brand activities like Copywriting courses or special projects Women of Wonder and Briefly News Entertainment Awards
- Publish PR articles on the Briefly website
Requirements:
- Ability to work remotely (good internet connection and a laptop, minimum Intel Core i3).
- 2+ years of experience in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- Strong communication and content creating skills: an ability to craft compelling press releases, op-eds, and pitches.
- Strategic thinking: a candidate can develop, implement, and adjust PR strategies based on brand goals and performance analysis.
- Crisis management: a candidate handles negative publicity and maintains brand reputation.
- Analytical mindset: ability to track PR performance, measure KPIs, and adjust campaigns for effectiveness.
- Familiarity with social media & influencer engagement for PR campaigns, understanding of PR software & tracking tools
- Adaptability: a candidate can navigate fast-paced environments and adjust strategies as needed
- Autonomy: a candidate can work under minimal supervision
- Established connections with journalists, media outlets, and industry influencers are a plus.
