Description

• Conducts research in the field of vegetable seed health.
• Initiates, manages and contributes towards national projects.
• Identifies the need for human resources in projects and manages the allocated resources.
• Is accountable for compiling and managing the project budget.
• Actively sources new national research opportunities and writes proposals.
• Manages data capturing, analysis, interpretations and recommendations.
• Compiles detailed reports and seeks approval for final reports.
• Renders diagnostic and advisory services at a national level.
• Disseminates technology through peer-reviewed scientific articles, popular publications, manual productions, radio and TV talks, and other marketing events.

Requirements

• MSc degree in Plant Pathology / Botany / Microbiology or related field.
• Six months to one-year applicable experience in seed health or seed quality testing.
• Experience in managing a research laboratory.
• Practical experience in seed quality testing.
• Experience in vegetable seed production and postharvest handling will be an added benefit.
• Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage.
