Receiving Clerk – Sparks & Ellis needed at Cape Union Mart

Job Description

• We are looking for a Receiving Clerk to manage the receipt/issuing, receiving and despatching of merchandise, materials, supplies and products.  Verifies items against orders/invoices and inspects condition.  Records items according to established procedures.

Their main duties and responsibilities include:

• To receive, inspect and book in shipments.
• You will be responsible for unloading packages and checking their contents to ensure they match the orders.
• They must also have physical strength to unload deliveries.
• Computer skills to update records and follow up with buyers.
• The goal is to ensure we receive the correct packages and stock them appropriately.
• Work with procurement staff to list expected deliveries
• Receive shipments and sign paperwork upon receipt
• Unload packages from incoming trucks
• Inspect contents to ensure they are undamaged
• Verify packages according to order and invoices (quantity, quality, price etc.)
• Assume responsibility for returning unsatisfactory shipments
• Label deliveries and allocate them to their designated place
• Ensure invoices are signed for satisfactory deliveries
• Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control

Qualifications & Skills

• Matric/Grade 12
• Proven experience similar role (at least 1-2 years relevant experience)
• Computer Literacy
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Good at math
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to maintain accurate records
• Experience operating heavy machinery
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
• Good communication and organizational skills
