- RCL FOODS is seeking a Receiving Controller to join our Baking Division in Benoni. The role will report into the Distribution Manager.
- The purpose of the role is to ensure accurate receiving, inspection, and control of crates and returns in compliance with company standards and food safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
- 3–4 years experience in warehouse, receiving, or inventory control (preferably in a food production or bakery environment).
- Knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP principles is advantageous.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office).
- Must have experience in Syspro.
- Must have Excel experience.
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in managing people or leading teams.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical ability to handle crates and perform manual tasks safely.
Duties & Responsibilities
Receiving & Inspection:
- Receive incoming crates and returns from Routes and Feeders.
- Check physical quantities against paperwork for accuracy.
- Inspect goods for quality, quantity, and compliance with specifications.
Crate Management:
- Record crate movements (incoming and outgoing) accurately sorting of broken and foreign before capturing.
- Communicating with van crews, depots and other bakeries for confirmation daily.
- Maintain proper storage and stacking of crates to prevent damage and contamination.
- Monitor crate inventory levels and report variances.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Complete receiving documentation and update inventory systems.
- Report discrepancies, damages, or shortages immediately.
Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
- Ensure proper handling of crates to prevent injury and maintain workplace safety.
Coordination:
- Liaise with production and dispatch teams to ensure timely supply of crates.
- Assist in stock counts and audits when required.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to bakery production environment (Noise, 24/7 production, etc).
- Shift, Weekend and Public holiday work may be required depending on production / delivery schedules.
