PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The purpose of a Receiving Supervisor is to ensure accurate and efficient receiving operations, manage warehouse operators, monitor discrepancies and damages, maintain compliance, collaborate with other departments, optimize workflows, provide training, generate reports, and uphold company policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducting blind checks for all inbound movements to ensure accuracy and verify that received goods match the documentation and system records.
  • Managing and supervising warehouse operators involved in the receiving process, overseeing their performance, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to established procedures.
  • Monitoring and report discrepancies or damages in received goods, initiating necessary actions such as filing claims or coordinating with suppliers for replacements or returns.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and proper handling of fragile, hazardous, or sensitive items during the receiving process.
  • Collaborating with other departments, such as inventory control and quality assurance, to resolve any issues or discrepancies identified during the receiving process.
  • Maintaining accurate records of received goods, including quantity, condition, and any relevant documentation, for inventory control and financial reconciliation purposes.
  • Monitoring and optimizing receiving workflows and processes to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and streamline operations.
  • Upholding and enforcing company policies and procedures related to receiving operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Ensure receiving processes are conducted within allowed time standards to achieve truck turnaround times on site, and communicate any areas of batched truck receiving.
  • Establishing and fostering a safe work environment by enforcing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage and overall safety compliance.
  • Operate within safety standards.
  • Managing the team, including organizing daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, overseeing time and attendance, planning and managing leave, and addressing industrial relations and providing relevant coaching and training.
  • Conduct team meetings.
  • Monitor and contribute to the overall achievement of the team’s goals.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience of at least 2 years in a similar position, with a preference for experience within the FMCG Retail industry.
